How would you define a social system?

There is no formal definition here is a general answer to your question: A social system is a set of social actors and the relations or ties between them through which they are interdependent in forming some overall organization. The members of a social system are interrelated in a particular fashion or occupy a particular state in order to perform a collective function. Examples of social systems might include a corporation that has well defined roles and relations between those roles through which they perform a collective function of producing some goods or services. Another example would be a family that has fixed roles and defined relations between them through wich they are interdependent in defining the state of the overall organization of the family.
